Mike Wilkerson: How did Violent Divine come together as a band?
Mike: We're actually friends since way back and all of us were presently playing in various bands that more or less died due to lack of progress and inspiration. I think frustration caught Gus who called up Q to ask him if he wanted to try out a few new songs he just penned for a band that he didn't have. Q suggested they'd call me to get the vocals done and I hinted it might be a good idea to draft a bass player and Klaus was the obvious choice. We did a quick rehearsal - I think we had 4 songs - and the following week we put them down in a recording studio near by, created the web-site www.violentdivine.se as well as a home on MySpace, upped the songs... and from then it just exploded.
Mike Wilkerson: Your newest release is on Chavis Records. How did this record deal come about? How has it gone so far?
Mike: I don't know exactly how this happened but I think Bill Chavis found us on either MySpace or Rock'n Roll Universe. He must have liked what he heard and being the straight forward rock fan that he is, he simply gave us an offer we couldn't refuse, and a few months later the album was released. So far we've had an enourmous response from both fans and critics and we're presently working towards conquering the planet to try and make sure everyone has a chance to hear the album and hopefully catch us on tour in the near future.
Mike Wilkerson: Tell Us about Violent Divine?
Violent Divine is simply 4 friends wanting to play some form of greatest hits of our record-collection - typ of music, delivering the greatest hits of all stage performances we experienced from the greatest bands we've seen on stage - and to play exactly the kind of music we always wanted to play. It really isn't any more complicated than that. Do what you love - type of thing.
Mike Wilkerson: Who are some of your influences?
Mike: Sweet, Slade, Kiss, Sex Pistols, Judas Priest, Ratt, Skid Row, L.A Guns, Manic Street Preachers, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, Velvet Revolver...
Q: Van Halen, Beatles, Pantera, lots of good music...guitarwise i´ll say Eddie Van Halen, Jimi, Dimebag, Mike Landau..the list is long
Klaus: Suicidial Tendencies, Metallica and Kiss have been around alot.
Gus: Motley Crue, Kiss, Guns N roses, Skid Row, Black Sabbath, Ozzy
Mike Wilkerson: If you could pick who to tour with who would it be?
Mike: I'd love to tour with Manic Street Preachers, or Therapy? perhaps.
Q: Hmmmm....The reunited Guns & Roses with Slash and all the original members
Klaus: Mötley Crue and Velvet Revolver would make my day.
Gus: Kiss
Mike Wilkerson: Give us a day in the life of Violent Divine?
Mike, Q, Klaus, Gus: A truly Divine day seems to be like getting out of bed early and kick start the day with 4 or 5 really large cups of ridiculously strong coffee while checking all e-mails and what's happened in the Violent Divine world all over the planet. Talk to some fans, do interviews and occasionally write/record new songs for the band. We usually end up late in our rehearsal room with loads of coffee trying out new songs or whatever, this is unless there aren't any lady friends demanding our attention. You must alway keep in mind what made you want to become a rock star in the first place.
Mike Wilkerson: Where have you toured before and in the future? Will Violent Divine be playing The States anytime soon?
Mike: So far we've only had time to tour Sweden but later on this year we look forward to tour a few european countries. I know there are promotors working to get us to the States and we'd really love to come as soon as possible, but as right now I have no dates set.
Mike Wilkerson: Which song do you like to play the most on the Cd?
Mike: Presently I enjoy Ghost In The Machine the most because I get to practice how to grawl at the end of the song
Q: That changes from time to time, but right now I really enjoy playing Misery...
Klaus: I listen to all tracks on the Cd as they was meant to be, but Levitate is my favorite when we play live.
Gus: My favourite song from the album to play is definitely Let´s Go coz it´s the first song on the album and the first song in the liveset. It´s great fun to start the gig with Let´s go.
Mike Wilkerson: Does Violent Divine have merch/sawg for sale?
Mike: What's a band without merchandise? If you come to our show you'll find t-shirts, pins, stickers, posters and we'll be there to autograph them for you. If we're not near your area you can find some of the stuff at www.cafepress.com/violentdivine
Mike Wilkerson: What would you like to say in closing?
Mike: We look forward to meet all you people as soon as possible. While we wait to get there, you can catch us on-line at www.violentdivine.se or www.myspace.com/theviolentdivine
